Chop Chop Album Release Party – SUNDAY

April 7th, 2011

Album Release Party – this Sunday April 10th, 2011

The band I play in, Chop Chop, will be playing a rare LA show on Sunday, April 10 at All Star Lanes in Eagle Rock. I really, really hope you can make it!! We will be debuting NEW songs from the space rock opera. Also, it will not be a late show (starting around 8:00) so if you have work the next day, it won’t end too late.

It will be an awesome night! Not only are we playing and coming out w/ a new album, but our friends the Carrions (featuring Cheryl from the Breeders) are playing with us and our friends, the Dollyrots, are playing too, in their last LA show before they head back out on the road! Also, a portion of the proceeds are going to a fundraiser for our friends who have made a documentary on The Price is Right called “Come On Down!” If you’re a long-time fan of Bob Barker and the Price is Right, you’ll love this. Here’s a brief description:

“Come on Down!” A documentary film by Caryn Capotosto & Jeruschka White

“Come On Down!” is a heartwarming and hilarious documentary film about fans of the iconic game show, “The Price Is Right,” gameshow culture, the American dream, and the once-in-a-lifetime experience of being on “The Price Is Right!” The charismatic cast of characters in “Come On Down!” includes housewives, rock bands, college students, scholars, grandmas, fanatics, and “regular Joe’s.” The “TPIR-stories” that we have collected offer a hilarious and lighthearted glimpse at a truly unique staple of American popular culture as devotees live their “American dream.” As one fan proclaimed… “I compare it to Canterbury Tales. I think it truly is an American pilgrimage.” This film is a pop culture love letter to America’s longest-running game show and the quirky characters who have been called to “come on down!”

If you are in LA, come join us and and buy advance tickets:

New Music – Kanye West Cover

June 15th, 2010

A new cover song…including awesome sax and some opera vocals.

Play was on How I Met Your Mother!

May 24th, 2010

Play was on HIMYM! The episode is the Wedding Bride. :)

Oh wow, look at that, it’s almost May…

April 28th, 2010

I had a change of heart with the direction of the latest project. Basically, the idea of singing about love made me vomit a little. So, I’ve scrapped the album and I am reconfiguring it into a Rock ‘n’ Roll Space Opera about a 17 year old girl named Carolyn. She’s captured by aliens and turned into a cyborg. Subsequently, chaos ensues across the universe.
There will be a companion graphic novel. :)

winter wonderland.

January 16th, 2010

It’s still strange to me that a winter wardrobe in Los Angeles is the same as a summer wardrobe – plus a light sweater. Album is coming along! Tracks are with Christy and my brother, and LA, as to be expected, is full up of talented people. There will be banjo and cello and all sorts of fun guest appearances. And there may be some busking at and around farmer’s markets soon…
